INTRODUCTION

Deadline: January 24, 2020

Are you interested in being an organizer for IDDS Michigan 2020?

This summit will be a two week hands-on summit which will be hosted in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  The theme of the summit is refugee resettlement, and we will work with refugee communities in Washtenaw County, Michigan. The summit will be held from July 26 – August 9, and organizers will be expected to be there from July 22 – August 11, 2020.  The goal of this summit is to empower local innovation through design thus improving refugee household livelihoods and building a community of problem solvers that will continue developing bottom-up innovations beyond the summit.

If you are interested in being an organizer, please complete this application along with the name and contact information for a reference who can provide a recommendation (by January 31, 2020). We will select 4 organizers and will notify each applicant the selection committee's decisions around February 7, 2020.

If you have any questions or technical difficulties, please email the lead organizers at iddsmichigan2020@umich.edu

We currently have openings for these positions:

  • Design Facilitators (3): This role entails guiding participants through the design process and the development of their projects. Each Design Facilitator will also have some other organizing responsibilities.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) + Communications Lead: This role entails working with the lead instructor(s) and lead organizer(s) to develop and use tools to monitor and evaluate the summit. The role also entails managing the summit communication platforms before, during and after the summit to tell the story of the summit through blogs, pictures, videos, and M&E Reports. The role will also include assisting with any additional documentation or reports required by funders.

The application deadline is midnight on January 24, 2020. The organizer application is only open to people who have previously participated in IDDS or are faculty and staff at the University of Michigan. If you have not attended IDDS before and are interested in being involved, please apply as a participant.

We aim to fundraise enough to cover the costs associated with travel and accommodation for organizers, and welcome any contributions organizers can make (ex. applying to their home institutions for funding) but will not consider this in the applicant review process.

Please note that you cannot save or submit the form until all questions are completed, so you may want to save your work in a separate document to prevent losing your answers in case there is a problem with the webpage.

If you have questions about the summit or organizer application, email iddsmichigan2020@umich.edu

Thanks and best wishes!
